Handmade Catrina Dia De Los Muertos

My little Catrina doll is perfectly dressed for the Dia de Los Muertos celebrations. Nov 1-2 is when families of the lost loved ones come together to pray and remember those they've lost. The holiday is a predominately Mexican celebration but it is also done in other cultures around the world. It coincides with the Catholic holidays All Saint's Day and All Souls' Day.

Catrina is made from paper clay and a metal birdcage. She has been hand painted and her hair is done with wool yarn. Her eyes were also hand sculpted and painted. The trims that help make her dress were from the awesome store, The Piece by Piece. Her little skulls are my originals designs and were sculpted out of polymer clay :) Aren't they fun!!!

I hope to create a couple more to join Catrina...What do you think? Does she need new friends.

Until next time I hope you enjoy the rest of your October and don't let the ghosts and ghouls get you this Halloween!

Hugs
Jamie
